How The MPAA Stays One Step Ahead Of Consumer Rights Groups

from the well-planned-strategy dept

SF Gate has an article talking about what a good job (depending on your viewpoint, of course) the MPAA has done in outmaneuvering consumer groups and others in the battle of content sharing for movies. While the music industry was taken by surprise, the movie industry went all out, deciding that they needed to fight the battle on multiple fronts. The article even quotes Fred von Lohmann from EFF saying: “These guys are everywhere…. Everywhere I turn over a stone, there’s been a bevy of MPAA people who have been working that area for years.” And we wonder why politicians and judges (for the most part) have been so slow to realize why they’re protecting obsolete business models?
