Social Barriers To Mobile Phone Use

from the lots-of-issues dept

Some new research has come out saying that there are plenty of “social” issues that will

impact how quickly people adopt next generation mobile phone technologies. The study watched how a number of families used mobile phones, and found that many of the limitations are based on informal family rules. They also noticed that cost is important – with families often arguing about how much family members were spending on their mobiles. The writers of the report believe that 3G technologies will be slow to take off because people are so cost-conscious about how much they spend, and thus won’t be quick to adopt new mobile services that will add to their bill.
