The Feedback Loop Universe

from the how-it-all-works dept

In what I guess is the last issue of Forbes ASAP, there’s an article about how a changing understanding of feedback loops is changing how we think about many things in the universe. It talks about simpler things like Amazon’s algorithm suggesting what books you might like, to more complicated mechanical systems like the Segway scooter, all the way up to how the human brain works. In fact, new research, based on these theories, suggests that the brain is actually more active when a person is sleeping, as it uses that time to recalibrate its view of the world, and test out different models to see if they work.
