Stressed Women In IT May Be A Warning Sign

from the work/life-balance dept

I guess this is the week to release studies on women in technology. Following on yesterday’s glass ceiling questions, today there’s a report that women are feeling more stressed out about working in high tech and upset about the lack of a reasonable work/life balance. Many are thinking of changing careers. Some are saying that this is an early warning sign of how technology companies are working all of their workers too hard. I think that a lot of technology companies try to erase the work/life boundary line on the assumption that you’ll do better if you really enjoy your work. The problem is that it’s too confusing and many people (both men and women) do need boundaries.
