ZDNet UK And Australia Users Lose Their Email - Permanently

from the oops dept

This isn't just a case of an email system going down. ZDNet in the UK and Australia permanently turned off their free email system last week with absolutely no warning to their users. Basically, anyone who was using the service lost all their saved messages, and lost whatever messages had been sent since they last checked email. I understand that there was a battle between ZD and the email provider, but it's still ridiculous to just turn the system off with no warning to users. At the very least, they must have realized that something was wrong.
