Elton John Flip Flops: Kicking People Off The Internet Is Good! No, Bad! No, Good!
from the does-he-even-know-what-he's-saying? dept
Sometimes you have to wonder if certain celebrities even know what they’re talking about half the time. A few years back, Elton John went on an anti-internet tirade, where he suggested shutting down the entire internet for five years for the sake of saving music. So, it was a bit of a surprise a few weeks back to see him among the list of big name rockstars coming out against kicking people off the internet for file sharing. Apparently, though, no one told Elton John that he was on that list, because now he’s switched positions again and is saying that he’s all for Peter Mandelson’s proposal to kick people off the internet. Yes, just a couple weeks after his name was on a document against the very same proposal. Perhaps we shouldn’t take much of what his opinion is this week seriously, when even he doesn’t seem to know what it is.

Well...
He’s always said he likes it both ways, if you take my meaning….
Blah, I was all prepared to come post some “both ways” comment, but I’ve been beaten.
Beaten both ways, no less.
I speak for most people when I say...
I’m all for kicking Elton John off the internet. Entirely. His songs, all merchandise, his online ticket sales, the store that sells him those silly glasses, and all fan sites of his. The world would be a better place.
Bennie and The
Starting with 1971’s “Madman Across the Water” and ending with 1975’s “Rock of the Westies”… The period of Elton’s “good” work is far behind him. (Mind you, that’s Elton AND Bernie’s good work).
Should it be any surprise that an aging, hairless, miopic, gay (bitch please; that “marriage” was a joke) Englishman has an attitude about new technology as old as an Aeolian Pianola?
Why do we even bother with the commentary from these flipping dinosaurs?
Reginald, get in line behind Neil Young and count your lucky stars we don’t take your doilies away.

Since I’ve got no real grasp on what’s what, I’ll spew whatever line my label tells me and fsck all you fans off the internet. How do you like me now?
Silence.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
First of all, EJ’s “anti-internet tirade” wasn’t about P2P but rather about the fact that musicians not meeting face to face would have a bad effect on music.
Next, if you check the linked article with EJ’s supposedly attack on the internet banning proposal you’ll see that it wasn’t EJ himself that spoke against the measure, but rather an organization that represents him and many other artists… so it’s likely that the organization’s views don’t necessarily represent his own.
I see no contradiction. EJ’s opinion seems mostly inconsequential and not likely to affect policy, and this article does nothing to bring intelligence to the debate.
ChimpBush McHitlerBurton … you sir are a genius.
