Oh Look: Even More Lost Votes By Diebold/Premier
from the counting-votes-is-soooo-hard dept
Following last week’s revelation of votes lost in California thanks to Premier (better known as Diebold) and its voting equipment, The Register points us to even more votes lost by Premier/Diebold machines in Ohio. Again, it was only because of a special, rare, spot check, which isn’t commonly done with these machines, that the lost votes were noticed. And, as usual, Diebold… er… Premier downplayed the discovery:
“We have not seen this particular condition anywhere else in Ohio or anywhere else in the country.”
Is it really that difficult for the company to admit that it screwed up? For quite some time now, pretty much every investigation and every more detailed look at any kind of e-voting equipment have turned up similar failures. For the company to brush it off because it hasn’t seen “this particular condition” anywhere else is ridiculous. It does make you wonder, though, why anyone would ever buy such equipment and use it in an actual election.

I’m just a little more ashamed of my country…good thing the popular vote doesn’t actually matter…
Re: Re:
You can be ashamed. I love my country and find myself only ashamed of what some of it’s citizens do. You sir, fall into that category. Besides, missing votes only matter when someone on the left thinks it may be used against the right.
Seriously, how hard can it be to make a working voting machine?
hmm… Looks like i’ve found my senior design project for next year.
Re: Re:
Seriously though, in today’s world we have so many complex machines doing unbelievable, mission-critical calculations, and you’re telling me that these people at Diebold can’t write a do-nothing program that increments a simply counter for each respective candidate? Come on, there’s definitely some under the covers fishiness going on here…
Re: Re: So, who's counting?
As Joe Stalin was reported to have said, I don’t have any issues with the masses voting, as long I control the tally (or words to that effect). Hmmmmmm.
Yet more fear mongering by the left. Honest elections scare the shit out of them.
Re: Re:
Odd, that you would say such a thing: Republicans asked for this:

Anything to do with honesty and integrity scares the shit out of them

I’m at a loss to see how anyone can claim this is either a left or a right issue. Considering “the left” won the last election, how is this “fear mongering by the left”?
It seems like a pretty clear problem for anyone who actually likes real democracy.
eh
Want to see how bad things are mike?
Go look at how much coverage the senate is getting about Bush authorizing torture.
Guess how much? 0.
Whoops.
Apparently few have seen this video from 2001

Obama should have a asterisk after his name. Elected by Diebold computer.
Re: Re:
Why, unclebob? Bush didn’t get one…
Re: Re:
Bush was the won by the Diebold, Obama was elected by such a landslide, that even with the Republican vote rigging couldn’t outcome the REAL vote…….
Re: Re: Re:
Vote rigging? dumbass. Libs buy/rig votes. All I have to say is see Governor Blagojevich.
Re: Re: Re: Re:
Then how the hell did a dumbass like Bush get elected not once, but TWICE? Sure. Libs buy votes, and Cons rig elections. Blah de blah blah blah. Y’all need to grow the fuck up.
Re: Re: Re:2 Re:
Because a lot of us are not influenced by the media. I understand that Bush isn’t a great president. That said, he was not, by far, the worst president in the last 50 years. I can name 3 that were worse. Nixon, Johnson and Carter.
Re: Re: Re:3 Re:
Well, none of those three were responsible for killing almost 3,000 innocent Americans on our own soil and then covering it up. In the dust from ground zero in NYC there have been found traces of thermite, a highly explosive powder capable of cutting through a steel beam in less than a second. The collapse of the buildings had many characteristics of controlled demolition, and no skyscraper of that kind either before or after that day has ever collapsed due to heat damage (the supposed cause). Not to mention that the CIA eventually admitted to sending out the anthrax in the mail that happened a month later.

Nice to see people keeping their conspiracy theories alive and well, despite reality or how ridiculous it makes them look.
Re: Re: Re:
Landslide? See the election results from the 1984 election. That my dumb brainwashed friend is a landslide.
um
Isn’t congress allowed to shut down a company when they’re dealing in an area that’s so extremely important while at the same time constantly fucking up and lying? Or are we about to be left with no other recourse than vigilante justice?
Sounds like the retarded right are whiny little sore losers. Get over it. Your team lost.
[/not lib]
hmmm
I just dont understand. Lost votes? But a Democrat won…how can that be?
I thought only Republicans cheated in elections?
particular conditions
My doctor hasn’t seen a botfly larva burrowing into someone’s skull to eat their brains, but he darn well better be able to take care of “this particular condition.”
Not theory. Fact. Based on declassified CIA documents and other inside resources. http://www.fromthewilderness.com has articles with all kinds of infrmation about this and other stuff that’s been going on. And all the articles have links to OFFICIAL SOURCES documenting everything they claim. They predicted years ago the exact situation we’re in now, with the economy and housing and everything. And they were the ones responsible for bringing the truth of Pat Tillman’s death by friendly fire to light despite the Dept. of Defenses’s cover story. This is what caused Rumsfeld and other officials to resign, pressure from this very group and its findings.
