French Senate Approves 3 Strikes Law
from the screw-the-eu dept
Despite the fact that the EU Parliament rejected the concept of a “three strikes” law for kicking people off the internet, and warned member countries that such laws interfered with civil rights and privacy rights of individuals, France is moving forward with such a law. The EU Parliament specifically had called on France to reconsider such a law, but the French Senate has approved the law by an overwhelming majority, 297 to 15. The law still needs approval from the lower house of Parliament as well, but it’s disappointing that any government body would approve such a law after it’s been shown to be both unnecessary and destructive.

Is it any wonder…… its the French

More of “Is it any wonder, the country’s trying to get industry to come back after driving industry away”
Re: Re:
If only France had “Freedom Fries”
This IS socialism!
This is what you get from socialist leadership, so all you Hussien Obama supporters should get ready for this sort of legislation in America. Actually, once Hussien Obama, Nancy Pelosy and their anit-american socialist friends get complete control of this country, you are going to see far worse than this. Go ahead and sell out our beloved America to Hussien Obamas islamo-facists terrorist pals, just don’t come complaining to us real Americans when you want your freedoms back!
Vote McCain 2008 – He freakin hates the French!
Re: This IS socialism!
Okay, I am pretty sure that there is an implied sarcasm flag on all your posts, but I think you missed the mark here. Even satirically, I don’t see how socialism applies here. It’s just stupidity.
Re: This IS socialism!
So what does everybody think? Will this kind of idiotic political troll disappear from forums after Obama’s landslide (please?) tomorrow, or will they just get louder?
@NeoConIdiot: Is this some kind of reverse psychology to get people to vote for Obama? I have no idea how any remotely intelligent person (at least intelligent enough to look at this kind of site) could take any of these ravings in any way seriously. I know if I had a vote, I’d be tempted to vote Democrat just to spite these people.
Re: Re: This IS socialism!
He’s a troll… he doesn’t believe what he types. he does it to get you to respond, which is the definition of a troll.
It scares me that you buy into it, because there are conservatives like me that have plenty of reasons to be against stuff like this, but not for the reasons some Internet troll would like to paint on us.

“It scares me that you buy into it, because there are conservatives like me that have plenty of reasons to be against stuff like this, but not for the reasons some Internet troll would like to paint on us.”
Thankfully were not all cowards like you. Some of us have the guts to call out Hussien Obama on his ties to radical muslim terrorists who plan to destroy our beloved Isreal. Some of us have the guts to point out that “redistribution of wealth” is “anti-american” and socialist. Lucky for cowardly conservatives like you, some of us are willing to echo publicly what your only brave enough to say in private.
VOTE McCain 2008 – The politics of failure have failed, together we can make them work again.

“VOTE McCain 2008 – The politics of failure have failed, together we can make them work again.”
Listen guy, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that quote alone just brought all of our IQs down a notch. The politics of failure have failed, together we can make them work again.” So, we’re going to make failure work? But they failed, ie failures. Failures by definition don’t work….hence the word.
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” I like to substitute the word stupidity for insanity in this quote.
Sorry people, I HAD to respond to the troll.
Re: Re: Re:2 This IS socialism!
Quick rebuttal on behalf of the Americans here:
Thankfully, we’re not all paranoid and racist like you. Some of us have the clear vision to see that Barack Obama’s middle name and ties to a respected educator (who made a few unfortunate decisions in college) have no bearing on either the kind of man he is nor the decisions he is likely to make. Some of us realise that changes in the taxation system are necessary, and that the plans laid out (which differ very little from McCain’s in any fundamental way) is the best way forward to dig the country out from the hole it’s been dug into by the previous administrations. We are free to say this despite the efforts of the current Republican administration to silence critics and paint anyone who disagrees as “terrorists” or “socialist” even though little could be more socialist than the $700bn bailout plan your grandchildren will still be paying for; trends which McCain and Palin would continue, with Palin especially having stated she wants the press to have less freedom if they don’t agree with her.
VOTE Obama 2008. The politics of failure have failed, Bush has destroyed many of the great things about America and McCain is unlikely to stop the slide into the abyss.
About right?
Re: This IS socialism!
Well, he is!
And to the newbs out there, he doesn’t support the position he claims to support, he’s just going uber extreme to see if we fall for it.
Yes I have fallen for it before, but I figured it out shortly after hitting the reply button and was very embaressed. Don’t make my mistake
Re: This IS socialism!
uh the Republican party has a record of removing freedoms that is unprecidented in US history, and people like you that want to divide America into two camps are not helping.
Re: Re: This IS socialism!
Unprecidented hogwash! Actually, consider Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democratic president as being the leader of a party with the record of removing the most freedoms. See Executive Order 9066, sending all Japanese Americans to internment camps!!!
Re: Re: This IS socialism!
Not taking sides, but we do spend a lot of time talking about the DMCA here do we not ? That was a gift from Clinton no ?
Re: This IS socialism!
I love to hear the average american… your dumbness is not only proverbial, but really amusing! keep being the world’s clowns! 😉
Re: This IS socialism!
You seem to ignore the fact that it is precisely Sarkozy (known friend of President Bush) and his party that are at the origin of this law.
Furthermore, the amendment denouncing the law as being against civil rights was written by a member of the french socialist party : Guy Bono.
Re: This IS socialism!
another solid reason not to vote for mccain
Re: Re: This IS socialism!
What are you talking about? The scummbag democretins are the ones who pushed up this crap pro-ip bill. Suck-off!!!
Re: This IS socialism!
You are an idiot.
Government stepping in and enforcing it’s will on private industry? You don’t see how that is socialist? Although the second poster is a bit extreme, I agree that it is concerning that this will probably be coming to the US in the next presidency.
France has a long history of passing strange laws that wouldn’t be acceptable in the rest of Europe, so this isn’t a great surprise. Hopefully, it will fail as badly as many have predicted and thus kill plans to implement this type of law elsewhere. We’ll see…
Viva!
Viva la Stupidité!
Britain will be next, I’d wager.
To make things clear
The French Senate and Parliament’s majorities are on the right wing. French Internet users are in their vast majority against this law. And the person who is at the origin of the European law is French and from the left wing (Guy Bono). So, why do we have this law? Mainly because of the lobbies!
Now please stop with your troll about socialism, French fries and please fight so it will not happen again.
Just add another nail in the coffin that contains what is known as France. They have more pressing issues with agricultural subsidies, anti-competitive laws, large unions and declining productivity, but would rather pass dumb internet laws to protect a dying business model.
Re: Re:
this is the fact IT WILL BE US NEXT (UK) come on fight this never mind subs OUR FREEDOM IS AT STAKE.
why is this surprising in any way?
we ARE talking about the French after all…..
“VOTE McCain 2008 – The politics of failure have failed, together we can make them work again.”
You failed again 🙂
