Nigeria's Latest Anti-Scam Effort? Tell People To Watch Out For Themselves
from the that's-one-way-to-deal-with-it dept
For years and years, we’ve been reporting on how the Nigerian government likes to make a big announcement every few months about how they’re cracking down on 419 advance fee scams. Yet, somehow, the crackdowns never seem to amount to very much at all — leading to some charges that those in positions of power really don’t want to stop these scams. Now, the Nigerian government’s latest “effort” is to just to help warn people about the scams, putting out statements for the folks out there who still don’t seem to recognize this is a scam. Of course, considering how this story has been covered around the globe for years, you have to figure that anyone who still falls for it probably isn’t paying much attention to warning notices put out by the Nigerian government.
