Changes In News Business Impact More Than Just Tech Choices

The struggles of the newspaper business are nothing new, but a new piece in the Washington Post highlights just how many changes the newspaper business needs to go through. It’s not just about changing the medium and shifting from paper to the screen, but also about changing the writing style to better cater to what readers would like to read. The Associated Press already is experimenting with this by offering very different versions on some stories, to better match the audience. While this may upset some traditionalists (especially those with journalistic training), it may be an important way to reconnect with an audience that is increasingly tuning out from the established media.
