Verizon Wireless Gets Their MVNO Play

While the talk was that Verizon Wireless was going to provide at least some of the network for Earthlink and SK Telecom’s joint venture MVNO, the company has still been a bit behind the curve when it came to being the carrier’s carrier for MVNOs — a job that Sprint has handled in the US. However, they’re clearly interested in the business, and now they’ve got at least a first high profile deal, providing the EV-DO network for Amp’d, a new MVNO made up of a bunch of ex-Boost Mobile execs (so they understand the whole MVNO idea). So far, they’re saying all the expected things (features, features, features), so it’s still a bit early to see if there’s anything really there, or if they’re just going to become “yet another MVNO” searching for the right niche.
