Samsung, LG Aren't Thrilled About Super 3G
We were especially skeptical of last week’s announcement that a bunch of companies had gotten together to create “Super 3G.” Over at TheFeature, I also wondered why they wouldn’t just call it 4G. Apparently, Samsung and LG know the answer. Both companies, who aren’t a part of the whole Super 3G phenomenon think that it’s really about NTT DoCoMo trying to sidestep or control the 4G process, getting around others who have already put plenty of work into a 4G standard. Yes, that’s right, as we expected, it’s all about yet another standards battle. Fun stuff. Update: Now I’m being told that after saying this, both LG and Samsung joined the Super 3G group… Not quite sure what to make of all of this. Perhaps DoCoMo went and told them it’s not about the battle for 4G, but to try to stop those other wireless broadband solutions.

this is nothing but the escalation of the hype war that Intel started with WiMAX.
Thing is, neither propaganda campaign has anything real. Some of these alt technology vendors do have something real now.
