People Are Even More Willing To Click On Attachments Today

These days, you would think that people would have learned to stop clicking on random attachments sent to them over email. However, a new study suggests that 85% of people would automatically open an attachment sent from a friend or colleague — which is actually slightly higher than a year ago. The main culprit: apparently these people are used to clicking on all the “humorous” forwards from their friends. Amazingly, it turns out that there are a lot of folks out there who seem to enjoy all that friend spam. In other words, outbreaks of “click on this” style virus attacks aren’t going away any time soon.

Perhaps one of the reasons so many people click on these attachments is because they are using PC’s @ their jobs and figure ” What the hell … it’s not MY computer & if it F’s it up well, then I get a break while the technician has to come and fix it.
I say this because I’ve overheard many of my less than intelligent/ethical coworkers say this

And, unfortunately, because of stuff like that, we’re locking down all of the computers at work so nobody can install anything. Hopefully it will limit the damage they can do, but it sucks for the people we can trust. Everyone loses out because of a couple of morons.

I concur…one bonehead unleashed a virus at work that brought our network to its knees.
Worst part was that we don’t use outlook and things are setup that he had to go through quite a few hoops to save the attachment then go and execute the thing!!
His response when asked WHY??
“Well its not like I would have done that at home..” which made me want to strangle him.

People seem to forget that the internet is still growing and that not every web newb has read all the articles about spam, adware, spyware, viruses and I don’t know what other stuff.
