Oh Wait, This Isn't The Year Of 3G
A month ago, we wrote about how many were finally expecting 2004 to be the “year of 3G” even after similar claims for the past few years all fell flat. Well, now some are saying that the predictions for 2004 are a bit overhyped as well. A new study says that most people in the industry still think we’re a year or two away from 3G really having an impact. No surprise here, Techdirt said in January that “W-CDMA is just coming into its own this year, and won’t hit stride globally until 05-06.” Perhaps it would be a lot easier if we just declared this ‘the decade of 3G’ in order to cover our bases.
