China, Japan And South Korea To Create Their Own 4G

Lots of places are reporting on how Japan, China and South Korea have agreed to work together on a variety of emerging technologies to get out from under technology from other nations. While lots of the discussion has been about operating systems, it’s interesting to note that one area they’ll be focusing on is creating their own 4G standard. As the article here points out, it’s possible that it could become a global standard. Of course, I’m wondering why the process shouldn’t involve a fully international group coming up with the standards instead of sticking with the process of one group pushing through their own standard.
