Microsoft Can't Talk Their Way Out Of EU Antitrust Suit
from the waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop dept
While it’s been making news all week, I’ve been waiting for some kind of resolution before posting the news, but now the EU’s “Competition Commissioner” (great title) has said that settlement talks with Microsoft have broken down, and they will be issuing an anti-trust decision against Microsoft next week – that will likely involve a fine and an order for Microsoft to open up some of their software. Could it be that an anti-trust ruling against Microsoft might finally stick? So far, even when found guilty of anti-trust violations, they’ve always managed to slide their way past any real penalties. We’ll just have to see what they end up doing this time.
