CNET Plans To Relaunch As A New Indie Music Download Site

from the starting-from-scratch dept

While we were a bit surprised to see CNET buy the domain name, we were wondering what they planned to do with it. Even people within CNET seemed a bit surprised about the deal. Now the plans are becoming clearer. Basically, CNET plans to offer something that’s halfway between the current and their own which offers a place where software makers can offer up their software for downloads. So, while they say they aren’t able to take the old database over, any musician should (in theory) be able to sign up again with the “new” and re-upload their tunes.
