Cingular Back In The Hunt For Merger Partner?

Must be that time of the year again. Every year, it seems, the rumors begin about which wireless carrier is going to buy which wireless carrier – with the bets being placed along either the GSM lines or the CDMA lines. When the carrier business started picking up earlier this year, those talks faded for a while, but now, thanks (in large part) to the challenges of wireless number portability, it sounds like those talks are back on. Reports today are saying that Cingular has been given the “okay” by parents SBC and BellSouth to go find someone to buy. Expect much more frantic buzzing about this as reports will discuss the possibilities of Cingular merging with both AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile.
