Latest On Nokia Batteries

Ah, the story that would not die. Following the story from earlier this week that maybe there were problems with Nokia batteries, the company that did the study is now admitting that they screwed up, and the batteries they were using might not have been from Nokia. That’s a pretty big mistake, considering that was the whole point of the study. You would think (just maybe) they would have double checked on the origin of the batteries they were testing. Meanwhile, Nokia is coming on strong in response to all the exploding batteries and is now saying that they are going to do whatever possible to stop the counterfeiters from providing fake Nokia batteries. Good for them. Of course, just like in the printer ink world, you have to wonder at what point is the concern really about counterfeits (batteries pretending to be legit Nokia batteries) or is it about blocking competition from Nokia-compatible batteries.
