FCC Asked To Help Push Number Portability Forward

While various carriers have been either talking up the benefits of number portability or publicly disparaging the process, it appears they’ve finally realized that the November 24th deadline is quickly approaching – and there are still some problems getting the necessary agreements set between carriers. So, now a group of wireless carriers have asked the FCC to step in and help answer certain questions – particularly when it comes to landline-to-wireless portability. While much of the public whining about number portability has been a big cry-baby PR stunt by some of the carriers there are some real issues they do need addressed, and the FCC has been slow to answer certain questions. All in all, it appears the whole number portability process has been a mess on just about every side – and the folks who have to suffer the most are the consumers.
