Transparent Nanostructured Bandages Will Heal You Soon

from the um,-but-why? dept

Roland Piquepaille writes “As says the Singapore Straits Times, “it’s clear how this bandage works.” Nanotechnologists in Singapore have developed a transparent adhesive bandage which protects a wound while allowing air and moisture to circulate so that it heals faster. Made of a special nanostructured polymer membrane, the protective strip also allows doctors to see how the wound is healing, so that they know exactly when it can be removed. And it will be on sale at your local drugstore within two years. Check my blog for more excerpts and references.” Of course, I think part of the nice thing about bandages is that it covers up the wound so everyone doesn’t have to see it. Also, any time people say something is “nanotech” these days, I wonder if they’re just saying that for the hype.
