Music Industry's Misguided PR Strategies
from the couldn't-make-this-stuff-up dept
It’s not like I like trashing the music industry every few posts. It’s just that it’s a bit scary how much they don’t get it. I wish that they would get it, and that everyone could go on and enjoy music again. However, over at the Guardian, someone has posted an open letter to music industry PR people explaining to them that viral marketing isn’t posting a poorly worded message to every known message board system. As he points out, the internet is perfect for viral marketing (especially about music). However, instead of understanding the power of viral marketing, they’ve discovered spam.
