American Airlines Points Laid Off Employees To Monster.com
from the yeah,-that's-helpful dept
Only available in press release form at this time, but still worth commenting on. American Airlines seems to be making a big deal out of the fact that they’ve teamed up with Monster.com to help out all the folks they just laid off. Monster.com will now create a special section that will just include profiles of those people who no longer work for American Airlines. Sounds like a way for Monster.com to get some publicity, and for American Airlines to do absolutely nothing for those they laid off, while still sounding concerned about their plight.

PR Stunt
Yup, PR stunt. But hey, more than I got when my VC-backed company went belly-up. No notice, no severance, no vacation pay, nothing. While we were being notified there were workers in the process of putting new locks on the door so the liquidator could do an accurate inventory. Luckily I had taken my laptop home the day before, so I did have sort of a severance package. 🙂
