Japan Handset Makers Go Global with 3G, Photo Phones
Japanese handset makers are finally realizing that they have a pretty good jumpstart on many other markets in offering mobile phones with advanced features for taking pictures and making use of higher speeds. They’re hoping to leverage this experience at home to take more marketshare globally from companies like Nokia and Motorola. Of course, this is a strategy that Korean handset makers are already familiar with, having grabbed quite a lot of marketshare in the past few years, by pushing phones that first got their test at home. It will be interesting to see if the Japanese handsets start taking marketshare away from the Nokias and Motorolas of the world, or end up fighting it out against the Kyoceras and Samsungs.
