Nokia Suffers 3G Blow

Nokia suffered a surprise blow today when Hutchison announced plans to rip out all 700 of their Nokia W-CDMA base stations in Hong Kong just a month before expected launch, and replace them with base stations from NEC and Siemens. Both sides won’t comment on the matter (with Nokia amusingly saying “We don’t unannounce contracts”, but it’s pretty clear that Hutchison had a problem with Nokia’s infrastructure technology – an area Nokia has had problems with in the past.
