Bank Ditches WAP Banking

I remember a few years ago when my bank started offering WAP-based banking. At first I thought it was cool, but then I could never think of a situation where I actually needed it. It appears that most users have had the same realization and banks are shutting down their WAP banking applications due to lack of demand. In this case, the bank says they’ll keep an eye on more data intensive 3G networks to see if it makes sense to offer a banking application over that network. It appears that most WAP banking applications fell under the same delusion that WAP was the internet on a phone – and just tried to replicate their online banking efforts. Like most such WAP applications, it was trying to cram the wrong type of application onto a phone.
