Second Korean Handset Maker In Global Top 5 – Sony Ericsson Drops
The ascendance of Korean handset makers continues, as LG has joined the “global top 5” list of handset makers, along with Samsung. LG’s move upward pushed struggling Sony Ericsson down to sixth place. In fact, LG and Samsung were the only ones in the top five to increase their marketshare, as all the other leaders lost some ground (see the article beneath this one). Nokia, Motorola, and Siemens all lost some marketshare to the two Korean device makers. The study also says that new smaller regional device makers from China and Europe are cutting into the sales of the big players.
