Orange Roots Help Hutchison 3G
An analysis of Hutchison’s 3G “3” project in the UK suggests that, while they may have a bunch of hurdles, the fact that much of their top management comes from Orange should help them get by. The biggest issue they face is that they have no “less than 3G” network, from which they’re trying to get customers to upgrade. However, as the report points out, most people already have mobile phones, and the real trick is convince users of the benefits of a 3G service… and not the benefits of “upgrading”. They also recommend people on 2G systems not to bother upgrading to GPRS, since it won’t be long before they have to move on to 3G anyway.
