War Traffic Boom Bad News For Some Websites
from the it's-a-problem dept
With web surfers flocking to online news sites to follow the war, many of them are saying they’re forced to spend more than ever before on bandwidth, but aren’t seeing any increase in advertising dollars. It’s amusing how everyone in the article seems to think that advertising is the only possible way for a content site to make money. It will be interesting to see if sites come up with more creative solutions, or if they start going down the “anti-viewer” road of more intrusive advertising or walled gardens. I wonder if there’s an opportunity for “P2P news delivery”, allowing popular news sites to utilize unused bandwidth from their own readers to better distribute the news?
