Movielink Targeted Towards People Who Don't Like The Rain

from the for-those-rainy-days dept

I still don’t understand how anyone expects MovieLink to really work. Hollywood’s weak attempt at offering movies online is incredibly restrictive and overpriced (a great combo). However, when asked why people would rather wait hours to download a very restricted movie to watch on their tiny computer screen, when the more feature rich DVD was available down the road at the same price, Movielink’s CEO had a bizarre answer: they’re targeting people who don’t like weather and are concerned about how long their shoes last. He claims that Movielink will be successful where there’s bad weather. “If it’s snowing, they’re more excited. If it’s hot out, they’re more excited (to download a film). There’s a convenience issue. You’re not going to wear out the soles of your shoes (walking the aisles of a video store).” Yeah, that’s what I always think of when I go to the video store: just how much it’s wearing out the soles of my shoes. Is this guy serious?
