Nokia Aims For Work, Play With New Phones

Nokia continues to offer up phones with new, specific features targeted at certain types of uses. While the biggest splash was the N-Gage gaming phone, they’re now getting ready to launch an MP3-player phone, a camera-phone for business users and a specific “car phone” for company cars, vans and trucks – that will let multiple people use the same phone. Nokia has clearly realized that with the market no longer as open as it once was, they now need to start targeting phones for specific applications to convince buyers on the margin. The question is whether or not the buyers will agree that they find these “extra” features valuable. These days, most people still look at a mobile phone for one main purpose: voice communications. How much of an impact the additional features will have in buying decisions remains to be seen.
