Roxio Hires Fanning, Plans To Revive Napster As Subscription Service

from the why-bother? dept

It’s been a few months since Roxio bought what little was left of Napster, and now they’ve finally announced their plans. First, they hired Napster creator Shawn Fanning, and now they’re planning on

creating a legal music download service. Of course, the service probably won’t be all that different than the approved ones such as PressPlay. It will also (once again) miss the point and focus on “downloading” as opposed to “sharing”. The only thing it will have is the name – which isn’t worth very much these days, and will be worth even less by the time the service launches.
