Tech Toys Tempt Congress?

from the soaps-online? dept

We’re always complaining about how our elected officials don’t know anything about technology – which leads to plenty of problems when we expect them to make laws that impact technology. So, I was surprised to learn that there’s an annual Congressional Internet Caucus’ Technology Fair that lets companies demonstrates their wares to Congressional Representatives. Of course, I’m not sure how much anyone can actually learn at such a fair, and I also wonder about some of the choices for companies that were chosen to present. While some make obvious sense, others were a little odd. For instance, why would our Congress people need to learn about a website that will be streaming videos of soap operas? Don’t they have more important things to focus on these days?
