CNN/ABC News Merger Talks Are Over

from the no-money-in-it dept

It seems the people in the media business aren’t very quiet when it comes to work out deals involving themselves. First, it became widely known that AOL and Disney were in talks to merge their ABCNews and CNN news divisions to better compete with Fox and NBC. However, after no one could agree on how the money would shake out they said they had put the talks on hold. Combine that with rumors that Ted Turner wanted to buy back CNN (despite his claims that he’s too poor) and his own comments saying he thought a combined CNN/ABCNews was a bad idea, it’s no surprise that the deal that never was is officially dead. For a merger that never happened, it sure got a lot of press coverage.
