Sony Ericsson To Offer Opera's Browser for P800

Sony Ericsson just gave gadget fans another reason to buy its much anticipated P800 smartphone. The company is going to make Opera’s new browser with Small Screen Rendering technology available for download next week on its web site. The new Opera browser allows P800 users to view regular HTML pages on the P800’s small screen with no horizontal scrolling. Web pages are reformatted on the fly so user just have to scroll vertically. This is similar to what Danger does on its servers for the Sidekick. The one advantage of Danger’s server-based approach is that the HTML and images are compressed to use less bandwidth. With Opera the user downloads the entire web page and consequently gets charged for it.
