Color Screens And Cameras Could Change Everything
Wireless users seem to be really into color phones even if they aren’t using the fancy new features of the phones, yet. The Shosteck Group reports that Asian carriers are already seeing increased ARPUs thanks to color screen camera phones, a trend carriers around the world hope to emulate. They predict that dropping costs in components will drive 92% of all color phones to include cameras by 2006. And this opens the door for Asian handset makers to step in and start stealing market share from the the established European and American players, Samsung being the best example. But watch for other Asian manufacters to get in on the action as Intel arms them with its mobile phone motherboard reference design.
