HP Gets Into Wi-Fi/Celluar Roaming Game

HP is the latest company to offer a Wi-Fi/cellular roaming solution to wireless operators. They are bundling Transats’s SIM based authentication solution with their telecom middleware which will let operators create standard billing records for Wi-Fi network access. This will allow operators to offer Wi-Fi service on the same bill as regular wireless service. It’s a great idea, but the real hurdle for such services is the same hurdle that plagues all wireless data services, pricing. Single billing is a nice- to-have, but bundling needs to offer more value than that.
