Consumers Want Their Thin TVs

from the drool dept

The economy may still be troubled, and consumer confidence may remain in the dumps, but consumers still want their super expensive fancy plasma television sets. As much as a $3,000 (at the low end) product can, they’re apparently hopping off the shelves. We’re clearly still in the early adopter stage, but there’s enough demand that production is ramping up, meaning that lower prices should help drive the demand curve down to more reasonable levels fairly rapidly. Within a year, they expect the prices of plasma and LCD screens to drop by about a third. Clearly, there’s still a growing market for home entertainment systems.
