A Yawn Of A Year In Tech

from the yeah,-so? dept

A Washington Post “roundup” of the year in technology points out that it was pretty damn boring. Most companies are trying to figure out what to do with all that technology crap they bought at the end of the 90s, so the last thing they want to do is buy any new technology crap. However, the article does point out some trends that are more important than whether or not the technology world is “boring”. First off, the internet has now clearly permeated mainstream society. I know this gets said every year, but it keeps on creeping deeper and deeper into our everyday lives – and that’s worth noting. The other four roundup items she lists still suggest that things are humming along in the technology world, but that now companies are actually focused on building useful technologies instead of pie-in-the-sky technologies. Hopefully, that’s the case.
