Next Steps For Bluetooth
This week’s Bluetooth Developers Conference in San Jose should shed some light on the direction of Bluetooth over the next couple of years. So far Bluetooth has been slow to catch on in, particularly in the US. There are two key challenges in driving more Bluetooth usage, laptop integration and handset integration. Backers on working on single chip Bluetooth and Wi-Fi solutions that will let the two technologies coexist without interfering with each other. That should help get Bluetooth in more laptops. As for more Bluetooth handsets, most of the effort to date has been behind integrating BT with GSM phones. For the US market developers are working on Bluetooth chips for CDMA handsets, which are more common here.
