Wireless Web, Take Two
Business Week has an interesting article looking at the state of wireless data in Europe. Just about everyone admits that the first attempt was a dismal failure. It was overhyped and under-used. However, the carriers are still relying on wireless data to pay the bills going forward, so they’re chalking up their initial efforts as learning experiences and coming back with better, faster and (most importantly) cheaper offerings. There’s no guarantee that the latest set attempt will take off either, but it seems that the carriers are finally realizing that they actually need to think about what consumers might want to use, rather than just throwing poorly thought out data at them with ridiculous pricing plans.
