British Hacker Accused Of Breaking Into Military Networks

from the the-saga-continues dept

This story broke last night and has been appearing everywhere, but more details came out this morning. It seems that a guy named Gary McKinnon, of London, has been accused of breaking into almost 100 US military networks. The article says that he caused almost a million dollars in damages, but those numbers are always suspect. Also, the amount of hype surrounding this case seems a bit overdone as well – as if US officials really really want to prove to people they can track down hackers, and were looking for a case to announce publicly.
