Zap Trying To Buy Ford's Electric Car Assets

from the aim-big dept

I must have missed the original announcement, but SF Gate has an opinion piece looking at electric scooter maker Zap’s plan to buy Ford’s electric car division. Ford has announced they’re abandoning the business, because there wasn’t enough consumer interest (not that Ford did anything to help build consumer interest, but that’s a different story). Zap, known for their annoying “Zappy” electric scooters, thinks that they can build better electric cars that people will want, and have offered $13 million (which they don’t actually have) for Ford’s assets. The guy writing the article thinks it would be good if we had more electric cars, but doesn’t think Zap is likely to succeed in their plan.
