More US Homes Have Outhouses Than TiVos
from the and-this-proves...-absolutely-nothing dept
Add this one to the list of absolutely useless statistics. The good folks over at AdAge want you to know that more US homes have outhouses than TiVos. It’s a nice sound statistic, but it doesn’t mean anything. We’re talking about two completely unrelated things that have nothing to do with each other. Trend-wise, you would think that outhouses are declining while TiVo has gone from nothing to 500,000 in not too many years. Besides, as the article points out, many companies are looking to build TiVo and TiVo-like technology into other set top devices. Just because TiVo itself doesn’t sell you the box, it doesn’t mean the concept won’t catch on.

Not necessarily unrelated...
How many folks are there with TiVo “and” outhouses? Considering that the trek to the outhouse and back is surely longer than a standard commercial break – these stats could point to an untapped market.
