FTC: Where Spam Goes Off To Die

For years the FTC has been asking people to forward unwanted spam emails to them. Some people at Wired were wondering what exactly the FTC does with all that spam. For the most part, it seems like they just let it sit there. They have some searching technology that they use when they’re looking for a specific type of spam, and they occassionally will go after a spammer who makes fraudulent claims in their spam email. However, most of the spam just sits there, taking up space on a computer somewhere.
