Workplace Monitoring Not On The Rise In The US

from the people-trust-their-employees dept

In the past few months I’d been reading more and more stories (usually planted by companies that sell employee monitoring software) that seem to mentions, as a fact, that most companies now monitor their employees internet usage. However, a new study in the US by the General Accounting Office (why they’re responsible for such things, I’m not sure…) says that workplace monitoring hasn’t gone up noticeably since September 11, 2001. Also, very few employees have been disciplined for inappropriate online behavior.
