Samsung And Novatel Join The w-CDMA Bandwagon

Slowly, but surely, more companies are experimenting with w-CDMA. Today it was announced that both Samsung and Novatel Wireless are licensing w-CDMA chip designs from Qualcomm, and expect to have products available in the middle of next year. Samsung, of course, is working on a phone product, while Novatel (with Lucent) are working on wireless modems using the technology. While the debate continues over which technology will be the next generation networking technology, it seems to make sense for the companies providing the end user products to be ready, no matter what the various carriers are offering.
