Illegal Art

from the can't-create-that dept

To go along with the Eldred case, there’s a new art exhibit that is showing off works of illegal art – artwork that somehow violates current copyright law. The idea is to demonstrate how many new works of art are built upon ideas, and how copyright law is stifling those ideas. So, despite the official purpose of copyright law to encourage people to create works of art – it’s actually restricts the ability and motivation for people to create new works of art. Certainly seems like a good way to make the point. The exhibit (of course) has its own website which is worth checking out for the “end user license agreement” that you need to read at the beginning alone.
