ABC News And CNN In Merger Talks

from the put-'em-all-together dept

It seems that AOL Time Warner (owners of CNN) and Disney (owners of ABC) are in talks to merge the two news divisions. Both are struggling somewhat (though, for different reasons), and think that a combination could be helpful. It could make a lot of sense, considering the main competitors to CNN (Fox News and MSNBC) both have network relationships. The talks are apparently still preliminary, but one proposal would have both companies spun off from their parents into a separate company, two-thirds owned by AOL, one-third owned by Disney.
