Virgin May Buy Telia Mobile

The latest rumor in the wireless carrier consolodation area is that Richard Branson’s Virgin Mobile may make a bid to buy Finnish wireless carrier, Telia Mobile. Telia Mobile is currently owned by the state run Swedish Telecom group Telia, but is being sold as part of Telia’s merger with Sonera (another telecom firm). It would be interesting to see how Virgin Mobile operates when they actually have infrastructure to deal with, rather than just being an MVNO operation, where they’re more concerned about the marketing side of things.
